Executive Pleasures ReviewThere is a website from the UK called 'menatplay' that has been entertaining visitors for some time now. Once the website became popular as a cruising site on the Internet, the publishing house of Bruno Gmunder Verlag GmbH picked up on the idea and now publishes books annually of the best photographs on that site. The photographers are unnamed except for being known collectively as Men At Play.
This volume called EXECUTIVE PLEASURES focuses on the menatplay icon - men in suits - or sort of! The settings are offices with at times men alone in their pinstripes and vests and ties and crispy clean white shirts and at other times with 'intruders' who add to the drama of the photographs. As the lead-in states 'This never-ending stream of macho brutes in suits is artfully splashed across 144 imposing pages, taking the viewer on a journey through a fascinating power-suited cosmos of carnality. At the same time this collection is much more playful and they haven't forgotten to include a healthy dose of irony. High-class photography and striking, hunky men make this large-format volume of photography an absolute corporate pleasure!'
What is unique about this book is the largescale size - more like a briefcase than a coffee table book. The color is ultra rich and the settings are elegant. As for the modes these are men in executive suits ready for the demands of the day. And at times those demands include fantasies that dip into the erotic.
