Ron Hubbard, noted science fiction writer, author of Dianetics, the Modern Science of Mental Health and founder of Scientology. Management Series Volume 1 contains three separate series of policy letters. They are the Data Series, Organization Series, and Personnel Series. This review will deal mainly with the Data Series of policy letters.As a background, L Ron Hubbard developed a technology for establishing, growing and running groups in response to a specific need for such technology in the Scientology organizations. Much of the material he developed was written specifically to the needs of these organizations, and not from a more general viewpoint. The Management Series volumes are largely an exception to this. The material contained in them is not written specifically to any particular group. In fact, the material in the Data Series, which deals with the development of practical skills in the application of logical thought to data evaluation, troubleshooting and investigative technique, can be used in a wide variety of activities. These skills can be used from troubleshooting an automobile engine, computer system, or other physical system, to investigating a crime, to finding what is at the bottom of the downturn, or upturn in any business or economic activity. Once the answer has been found, the Data Series takes you a further step to coming up with a step by step approach to a solution to an undesirable condition, or a strengthening and support of a desirable condition. The Data Series takes you on quite an adventure toward greater skill in the use of analytical and logical thought. Along the way you may be surprised to learn what passes for data evaluation with many people. The material in the Data Series has got to be the most under-rated material of all time in the area of practical use of logic and analytical thought. I am pleased to see that it is now available through a public bookstore so that those who have interest in this area may avail themselves of this technology without undesired commitments or affiliations.And don't forget the other two series-- the Organization and Personnel series. The Organization series has some invaluable insights and fundamental understandings regarding groups-- what they are, what makes them healthier, how to grow them, etc. Anyone would be better off by exposure to this material too.
