The main process presented for reviewing and resolving the security in a IT system is based on an 1990's NSA methodology, INFOSEC Evaluation Methodology, which is not used outside of the Intelligence community, because it is too expensive and strict. It only provides a paragraph on the most commonly used standards from the National Standards and Technology Institute (NIST Special Publication 37) and the ISO/IEC 27000 series.
